art54
Hello fellow members, i'm new to the site so bear with me for the long explanation of my problem, I am using the lenz system on my layout using the 100 set version 3.6, I have just won a li-usb to use my iaptop to control my system this is the early model and it came without the usb cable so I thought the printer cable which looked the same as the original. After reading the instructions I first plugged the device into the lenz system to see if the expressnet light would light up as it should, this was as it should next plug the usb cable into the module and the laptop to find it would not connect so I suppose I will have to buy the right cable from lenz. My problem is after connecting the device to my layout on one of the tracks the abc programme seems to have gone haywire ,when I run my loco around when it drives into the first section it slows down to a virtual stop then speed up in the breaking section and does not stop in the breaking section ,I've reset the system to factory settings but still the same thing happens on the one track, the other engines without a chip set with abc run through without stopping this system is new to me so I would appreciate any help on this problem. Thanxs for any help, Art54
art54
1) USB connectors are designed so that only one version will fit. The fact you could get the cable in means you've got the correct cable, but you probably need drivers for the Lenz interface. Those may or may not be available for your system. 2) the ABC system works by creating an asymmetric DCC signal, which effectively results in a small DC component on the track (pure DCC has no DC component at all). This can result in loco's taking off if you have DC running enabled in the decoder. CV29 controls this, see the manual of your decoder to switch it off. Hi Mr Dutch-Master. Firstly thanks for the quick reply, the instructions I got with the interface was to first connect to my layout and see if the connection light is on which it was then connect to my lap top and wait for the green light to say it is connected, after waiting about ten minutes it still had not illuminated so I presumed it wasn't the correct cable. so I disconnected everything and after that I have now the problem I mentioned previously. I will look into cv29 and turn off if activated. Thanks again for the reply.
10000
Have you installed the driver? What version of Windows? 10 can be a real pain to get it working. What software are you using to control locos?

What software are you using to control locos? Hi i'm using windows 10 with lenz set 100 version 3.6 I have not installed the drivers as it said in the instructions to do that after connecting the expressnet to my layout then connect the usb to the laptop and wait for the laptop to see the usb device then to download from the cd rom, as I said it would not connect the usb device to the computer with the lead I was using from my printer. 10000
As long as the USB cable has the correct connectors and plugs into, without force, the computer and the Lenz then it should work. Its a standard cable. Win 10 has a tendency to auto install the driver that it thinks is the correct one but that may not allow correct operation. When plugged into the Lenz you need to go into Win 10 devices and see if a new USB device is there and then install the driver to overwrite the default one. The Lenz USB connector uses an industry-standard serial->USB converter and Windows 10 will automatically install the correct driver. Any driver on the supplied CD is almost certainly going to be at a lower level and you shouldn't need to replace it. After the driver is installed you need to look in control panel -> device driver to find which USB name was used so that you can set up the software. The usb cable fits into the usb hub no problem I've installed the programmes of the cd rom that came with it, the usb light does not light and the programme keeps telling me its not connected, the greenlight on the usb quickly flashes once as I remove the cable from the hub, ithink either I,ve bought a faulty device or the cable is at fault, will have to try another cable and hope for the best. thanks for the advise and will let you know how I get on . CHEERS Thats possible my first Lenz USB/Ethernet had to go back as it was faulty. If you can try another cable first they are cheap enough. If there is one thing that I have learned about Windows in my many years in IT and using Win 10 since I retired is that it doesn't alway work the way it should. When I upgraded to Win 10 it killed the operation of my Lenz, I had to install the driver. Its also done the same after a couple of the major upgrades. CHEERS I know nothing about this system, but I see you mention a hub. Do you mean you're connecting it via a USB hub to your laptop/PC rather than directly into a USB port in the side of the laptop/PC? If so, it would be worth giving it another try connecting directly (without using a hub) before giving in and buying a new cable. Apologies if I've mis-understood. art54
Hi Rob, what I meant when I said hub I meant the usb device which I plug straight into my laptop sorry to cause any confusion. Hi everybody, Had a look into settings on windows 10 and the li-usb device was in the listing but had drivers unavailable wrote next to it, so I loaded the cd rom I got with device and still kept coming up with usb not connected, I think i'll just call it a day with this one it didn't cost much of ebay and I also received a couple of gold decoders which was worth it just for those alone. While i'm on has anyone used traintech signals with lenz bm3 modules as I cannot get mine to work as they are pos earth and my signals are neg earth anyone overcome this problem i'd be pleased to know. Thanx to everyone for all the help.

10000
Did you just run the setup program on the CD or did you install the driver from Win 10 Devices liusb update driver - browse for driver. While mine is the ethernet/usb you cannot just run the setup program from the cd you have do it as an update driver.
BrianCook
I would recommend you send an email to A&H Models (dccshop@hotmail.co.uk). They were very helpful when I upgraded to Windows 10 and were able to provide drivers and instructions. Brian

RMweb Gold RFS Posted August 3, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 3, 2017 Lenz have made available up-to-date drivers for the LI-USB for Windows 10, and these drivers also support Windows 7 and 8.1. They are presumably signed drivers and more importantly support both 32-bit and 64-bit.You can download the updated installation files from here - http://www.digital-plus.de/download.phpScroll down to the entry 23150 USB Interface - Treiber für WIN10 ("Drivers for Win10"). Hi Double click the 23150 Custom Driver folder. When it opens locate the file called dp-chooser (it may have the .exe extension depending on how your PC is setup). Double click this file to run it and follow the on screen instructions. If it says this program requires elevated priviledges to run right click the file and choose run as administrator. When the message comes up to say "Windows cannot verify the publisher of this driver software" click "install this driver anyway".
