Just started another van, and for the Dapol bodies I can't find my LMS clasp braked chassis parts so ordered another.

So another 3 vans on the production line.

The ex GWR BCK is having another primer coat.

So for my 1960 or so layout

Got 3 wagons ready

a pile I am going to use old RTR of decent quality

Almost 20 kits varying from part assembled to on final painting before transfers.

This is a Collett BTK, same diagram as the preserved one ex DFR now on DVR.

Seen a picture of one on a Cornish branch, I need a few carriages so started with this.

It was started after the C83s, but first to be completed.

Now to my thoughts on Comet.

Well this will be quite long.

They are a very good base but you do need to have an idea on what you are doing, in general the sides are good, but the chassis are a little crude, roofs are a tiny bit generic, but OK, bogies are weird, I prefer MJT frames and bogie sides.

The castings are acceptable but not great, they are good enough for layout carriages.

I find the insides are cumbersome, so I run off partitions and corridor wall on the Cameo 4 and use the supplied seats.

Comet sides are generally 10/10, underframes 7/10, bogies 5/10, general castings 6/10.

Their range however is excellent.

If I could afford it I would use MJT castings on one, but they do not do all the bogie sides required.

For corridor mark 1s I would prefer to use Lima shell and roof, MJT vents, Comet sides, Underframe a mix of Plastruct, Replica, Comet parts with Replica bogies.

All said I would wholeheartedly recommend a Comet kit as the range is indespensable.

Now to order another C54 and either a C61/C63 or a C66/C75

Today has been spent cutting windows for the DMU, and fitting top vents in the 2C.

Using glue and glaze.

Will get some photos tomorrow when drive.

Look forward to seeing them - I always seem to make a complete mess with glue and glaze.

Ah so it was YOU that outbid me a few months ago 😃😄😁😆😅

Not to worry it can be a pain tracking them down. I found one then another a week later which turned out to be a Mainline one from the same tooling.
