The TK needs to be converted to RHD and the cab fixed to the chassis. The cab actually droops slightly but you can't see that in the photo. I carved too much of the frame away so need to back fill with plastikard and then glue the cab base the the frame before converting to RHD.

Nice project. Not sure if you are planning to keep the original cab colour but the yellow star is easily removed with IPA on a cotton bud, the pic below is the original red cab;Screenshot_20231015-055940_Chrome.jpg.4ac5167c54bdaa5a16c9f8a1dc423278.jpg

I need to remove an early crest from an expensive loco which I'm wary of so will practice with the star on my Bedford. Do you just rub away, or let the IPA soak in for some time first?

I soak the cotton bud in IPA then rub away. It takes a while for anything to happen but after a couple of minutes it started to come off and then got progressively quicker/easier.

Thanks.

I've never managed to find any Bedford decals which limits potential repaints. I'll keep the red as looks good especially with black trim but I've also got a blue one I wouldnt mind repainting.

Here we go on the conversion of the windscreen wipers from RHD to LHD. This is a cruel enlargement of the rotor blades which need tripping further nearer to scale. I won't be able to get them to be exactly like the originals but hey ho once they are coloured black they should be OK.

Bedford-11.jpg.d33004ed6619e557f0c8c863747c3fbd.jpg

The cab conversion has been glued in with driver which as you can see is in a bit of a stunted pose caused by the need to cut off the arms and fit them to the other shoulders!

There has been some comment on another forum about the height which the drivers sat and this seems to indicate I have got this right.

Once the wipers are done I'll glue in the cab floor before gluing it to the chassis.

OK so the TK is not finished apart from getting the original decals off the doors. Now thinking about weathering as its too bright and clean.

Very pleased with how this has come out as it's much more prototypical than the French Circus truck albeit technically slightly out of period for Black Notley. The layout is supposed to represent 1958 and the TK was not launched until 1960 but as I am planing to be able to recreate three different era's I can simply swap it out for a different one when operating!

Now to finish off the 6 wagons I started earlier in the year

On the recurring subject of 7mm vehicles, I noticed this morning they have tweaked the Thames Trader tooling to do a Leyland Comet. Bit pricey from abroad but they tend to filter through over here eventually.

Another interloper the branch. This one really is pushing the envelope!!!!

Class-73-1.jpg.7216507825a28f6fed81fbfa56483eb4.jpg

The interference on the drivers side window seems to be cat fur. It gets everywhere in this house  on account of the fact we have 5 of them! I have since removed it

I'm kicking myself that Hattons had them at £550 pre Xmas, but I didn't realise it was only for a day or two.

The cats or the fur LOL

I do have a similar issue then it is only a small dog but hates being brushed.

Jim

The fur ha ha. Ours get groomed every day in return for a lick-e-lix treat. The desire for the treat makes them forget they hate being groomed!

I saw that but I don't think a purchase would be approved. I would also like one with the grey stripe.

I wonder if Heljan will modify the body and do a 73/0.

And how long before a 33/1!

I suspect due to it being a bit niche, they made less of the 73 than usual - Hattons stock numbers have always been single digit - and that's why they cost more. The completely new 24s are back down at normal levels. So I don think they'd risk retooling. I do remember someone doing a 4mm one by making a plasticene mould of the grills to cast the extra ones!

Actually, now I think about it, I might try this!

I would love a 74 but absolutely no chance of that happening.

I have too much else to do first.

Tell me about it! i spend more time refining my list of priorities than actually doing anything (I learnt this trick at work!)

Another work trick I devised was to put fake appointments in the diary. We had a system where others could simply book in and I would find myself in interviews from morning to night and never got any work done. The odd fake interview which mysteriously got cancelled last minute was a life saver.

Being retired now though seems to give me even less time!

I can't believe I haven't posted here since February but thats the case.

I've been doing various bits and pieces and at long last finished the brick scribing on the station building.

As you can see its had a base coat of red brick and since the photo was taken I have painted the tops of the three sides in engineering blue. I now have to pick out a few hundred bricks in different colours so the effect is not a uniform red.

The Wickham shed is now complete apart from the rails and roof. I was not happy with the plastic corrugated sheets supplied and a friend on the 7mm scale society page has sent me some pressed card which looks much more effective and which I will use instead.

More as it happens

Just taken delivery of these from 3D Printing Corner. The tug is a Bachmann product.

They are quite flimsy but they do look the part and I think better than the cheaper West Hill version.

Ok so this is progress on the station building now its been painted and a mortar wash applied.

I am going to coat this in matt varnish as I fear that the mortar wash will rub off through constant handing as I apply the detail
