JHRL6971
Two questions if I may on the Dapol (ex-Lionheart) 64/74xx: 1) I plan to renumber one using Severn Mill plates. How might the current plastic plates be removed - I am assuming they are not an integral part of the plastic cab moulding? 2) I have seen several examples converted to S7 by having the wheels moved out to the appropriate back-to-back. Any thoughts on how to dismantle the chassis (and in particular to remove the brakegear) so that this could be done? Many Thanks "6971"
CME and Bottlewasher
Hi, In regard to your first question the cabside plates will pop out with a scapel blade, gently positioned behind them. The issue is the surrounds. There was a company doing replacement plates, but I don't know who. Can you contact Richard Webster as he was the originator of the model? Atvb CME Thank you very much for the reply. On my 7444 the plates actually seem to be brass and rather better stuck on - probably superglue or similar to the plastic cab sides. I will keep persevering - as I have some Severn Mill Plates for 7418 to fit. Much Appreciated and Happy New Year "6971"
