Not only is the rear power car in MML livery, look at the cab door. Looks like FGW to me.

Good spot, I'd not noticed that before! I think you might be right. And on the theme of FGW...

Slightly OT but this pleased me!

The Sunday Times' weekly Style magazine have a trends column, i.e. a barometer of things that they deem either hot or cold.

One of the "heating up" items this week is Train Guy. And the image used......?  A graphic of an HST in the original BR livery!

Well IMO it was the best HST livery ever, which I reckon was very "cool"!

Stabling at the end of the day, back in July 2007, three days before flooding closed both the M5 and M50 at the start proper of the school holidays. Cornwall had been fine all week, but up country was a different story....

On my way back to Huddersfield on 17th February after a few days in the sun (obviously not in the UK !), I passed through Manchester Piccadilly.

Network Rail’s New Measurement Train was standing at platform 1 with 43013 ‘Mark Carne OBE’ ready to leave with 1Q15, 21.29 Manchester Piccadilly to Derby RTC (Network Rail).

More HSTs in Gateshead from the 1980s..

Southbound near the site of Bensham station on 30th November 1986. The tracks in the foreground lead down to Dunston and eventually to Carlisle.

Southbound on the High Level Bridge on 2nd March 1987. The artwork in the foreground ('Bottle Bank') was removed when the new Hilton Hotel was built on the site.

Another at one of my favourite locations before trees and overhead wires spoilt the view - 43158 northbound near King Edward Bridge Junction on 20th June 1987. Looks like the driver has 'copped' this power car - the number on the front has been underlined!

More HSTs in the (urban) landscape - too far away to identify!
