Guest teacupteacup
South Pelaw, Fencehouses and Blackgill all under the same roof...thats brewing up to be quite a show...and whilst on th subject of brewing...you'll feel quite at home on North Tyneside teacupteacup as many Glaswegians came down for their summer holidays to Whitley Bay, Cullercoats and Tynemouth, there was even a through train at one time...and whilst still on the subject of brewing...if you stay till closing time then why not hop on the metro to Monkseaton station and the Left Luggage Room...for some rather nice ales...its well worth the trip and...the interior is still painted in BR (NE Region) colours. Thanks Axlebox Im a semi regular visitor to the Newcastle area as it is, having family in Blaydon and Ryton but still undecided if I'll make the trip. Its a pleasant drive and there are a couple of layouts I really want to see - South Pelaw and Crinan... I'll see what saturday morning brings! North Eastern
The show is all set up (Almost, just a couple stragglers to come), road signs all out and managed to dodge thunder & lightning just. There are some top quality layouts all under one roof and probably never to be repeated again, so come along and enjoy yourself (Well it is forecast to rain all weekend). Oh Goody. ...had a sneak preview whilst (supposedly) helping to set up Blackgill this afternoon... So that's why you don't make an appearance in the setting up (Grafting) video. Maybe you were just moving so fast! (Supposedly).

PenrithBeacon
I’m in Manchester and want to visit Sunday. It’s too far there and back by car but how would I do it by rail? Is there a station in North Shields?

RBAGE
I can't remember a show in the north east that I've enjoyed better. The layouts were fantastic. My planned shopping requirements were very limited and all was satisfied. However, there seemed to be a lack opportunity for impulsive purchases. It might be difficult to attract specialist trade to our corner of this sceptred isle but with a large proportion of layouts being high end finescale railways, it might be worth giving one or two of them a poke. Keep up the good work. Bob

Ragtag
Show itself was great, some real top notch layouts and good trade support too. I think the RTC layout won the day for me, the variety of stock kept drawing me back for another look and the APT is really something in the flesh. Only thing to improve is the staffing arrangements in the car park - despite the number of attendants some tool managed to park blocking the entrance to the bottom car park leading to a bit of a wait while the numpty was found in the absence of a PA system. Norm81
Thanks for that Just another small point, you'll have to change metro at monument for the coast.

Edwardian
Thank you to the members of the Blyth & Tyne Society for an excellent day today. There were many very fine layouts, and a couple of traders I had not come across before. I did not manage many photographs, Fence Houses was the only layout sufficiently well lit for my poor camera to function well in the inevitable gloom that affects every exhibition venue, but there was much to see and absorb. My favourite layout was the diminutive Staly Vegas. It is a little work of art; its composition and subtle uniform tones made it completely successful and convincing as a layout. I liked the North Eastern theme, and enjoyed something similar at Redcar a couple of years ago, though I was a little disappointed that this time the strap line "From Pre-Grouping ... " was not lived up to. I struggled to find anything older than about 1930, there being just two small (but very good) Grouping layouts. At Redcar I saw Marske (7mm) and Danby (4mm). I assume, given the flyer, the lack of layouts set in an earlier period was not a deliberate decision, and I wondered if the organisers were simply unable to find anyone able to attend with such a layout? Excuse the very poor quality of the photograph.
PenrithBeacon
I went today, long drive. Excellent layouts, variable trade, awful ( truely dreadful) catering.
AJCT
I went yesterday, by train from Edinburgh, then by Metro. I'd have to agree with PenrithBeacon about the outdoor catering - comfort food perhaps, but not in line with today's healthy eating messages. Fortunately it was sunny when I lunched, but not ideal if it had been raining. That apart, it was well worth the trip, particularly with Leeman Road, Fence Houses, Blackgill and the wonderful South Pelaw (which got my vote). Would definitely attend again, but might bring my sandwiches next time.... Alasdair
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted July 29, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 29, 2018 I went today, long drive. Excellent layouts, variable trade, awful ( truely dreadful) catering. As a 'sausage inna bun', it it would still beat anything Mr Dibbler could provide but as an exhibition cafe it was one of the worst I've ever come across, about 8 chairs and not a lot else. John of York61
Thanks for a great weekend. Very nicely taken photos of Leeman Road. We got back to York at 6:40. Highlight for me was South Pelaw. I take it you saw Chris Pendleton AND Dave Bradwell. Had a brief chat with them on Saturday in front of my layout "That's a standard 3"-Chris Pendleton...."Is that one of my J27s?"-Bradwell. Thank you for all the kind comments so far about the show.
