RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted February 7, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2020 Nice work, Chris. There are several folks who do nice 3d printed pots.
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted February 8, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2020 Looking good, I would agree and go for some 3d printed pots. Cheers, Ade.

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted February 8, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2020 It’s a bit of a mess at the moment but fingers crossed paint and powders will save the day
Barnaby
Very nice work Chris. Just a thought you must try 0 gauge. Regards

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted February 8, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2020 (edited) Pots arrived just in time Wondered if I should go more ornate but I quite like the simple tall pots, still miles better than the moulded on ones Edited February 8, 2020 by chuffinghell 7
RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted February 8, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2020 I wasn’t sure about the colour of the flashing So I dusted over what I’d previously done with white powder (after experimenting on a scrap piece first) and I’m quite pleased with the results I’ll do the same with the chimney flashing once I’ve weathered the brick and pots The pots were from ‘smart models UK’ (via eBay but I assume they have a website too) the photos on their listings don’t do them justice! really good quality high resolution prints. In fact the prints are that good I didn’t have to sand them smooth before painting The closest colour I’d got to terracotta was railmatch light rust (believe it or not) Not that it will make any difference once weathered
RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted February 8, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2020 Smart Models do some good stuff and had several things from them. Their downloadable textures give some variety to Scalescenes models too. https://www.smartmodels.co.uk/ The station building is a fairly utilitarian one and I think the pots go just fine. 1

I confess that I was tempted by the octagonal ornate ones But I suppose it’s not really a very fancy looking building and you can’t polish a t**d Edited February 8, 2020 by chuffinghell

RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted February 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2020 Hi Chris, Not been on for a bit - like you work keeps getting in the way. This is all looking very nice, you've made a cracking job of the chimneys, and I think the weathering is spot on, really good. All the best mate, Al.

RMweb Gold chuffinghell Posted February 10, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2020 Would it be feasible to put a stack here (well half of one) for the station masters office and booking office there would only be one visible pot (you have to imagine the second pot is behind it as it’s in low relief)
RMweb Gold GWR57xx Posted February 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2020 (edited) Hi Chris, Loving your build and your attention to detail. It's coming along great. Don't want to rain on your parade but I think your chimney is a bit short... I don't know if building regs would have been the same when your station building was built, but I found this info for current chimney heights: Chimney Heights Hope it's of use. ATB To clarify: I'm meaning the new short chimney on the single storey part, not the excellent one on the earlier posts! I’ve just been using/adapting what is in the Peco kit. However, I’m sure it’s more than possible to make it taller, maybe not to regulation height but certainly half the height again....maybe twice the height if I use brick embossed plasticard instead Edited February 10, 2020 by chuffinghell

RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted February 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2020 If the chimney is there , where in the room is the fireplace? Is there a wall parallel to the platform edge? That would make that room fairly narrow.
