Foxfield Gala and Bellerophon's last run

Recommended Posts

Gordon,

it is the big 0-6-0 saddle tank I am on about!

The Impetus Bagnall I have an unbuilt kit for in the 'Loft Insulation!'

I am going to build the Bagnall at some point!!!

I made a particularly bad job of weathering it - which Ruston managed to put right for me!

Here's the thread on building it -

Managed now to download my Gala photos and give them a bit of 'manipulation' to make them more acceptable!

In no particular order -

If you hover over the photo with your 'fickle finger of fate' cursor a brief description will appear.

Thanks to all for the photos, always good to see what it looks like from the lineside instead of the operational side. I was one of the chaps on the firefighting train on Sunday so good to see us in action. I had Brookes on Saturday and would agree that she is a handy little engine, it was a shame we only had one run up the bank on Saturday due to discovering a blown Valve Chest joint in the morning which meant we were an hour and half late off shed and missed our first path.

Thanks for that information it is really useful. I will have to have a look at what events they have on and make a plan. It should be 'do-able' in a day from up here so would make a nice run out.

Cheers,

David

The next event featuring trains on Foxfield Bank will be the Autumn Gala on the 22nd 23rd September which will also feature road steam as well as some of our fleet of industrial diesels in action alongside the steam fleet.

Bellerophon would make a fine model, although I'm not sure I'm brave enough to tackle that crazy valve gear!

Has anyone thought of mentioning this to Rapido - I feel sure they could do it justice and given the recent success of the Hornby Pecketts and other recent industrial locos it would seem a sure fire winner- I would even buy one and my interest is GWR!

I'm sure this post is redundant, because unlike me I expect you're not living at the bottom of a hole - however, I completely missed the announcement that KR Models intend to produce Bellerophon until Bernard TPM referred to it in a post on Hornby's Lion.  Given my pre-Great war steam inclinations, KR is not a manufacturer I thought to keep an eye on, and even when I knew I found they somewhat 'buried' the announcement in a general 2021 announcement topic.

I'm thrilled at the prospect of a model of this prototype, albeit that my excitement is somewhat tempered by the fact that this appears to be nothing more than a statement of intent and who knows if, let alone, how long hence, this intention might translate to reality.

KR are, however, inviting 'expressions of interest' via their website, and I suspect that it would serve us well if we expressed interest in impressive numbers and thus bolstered KR's confidence in the viability of the project.

Both as preserved and in NCB green are planned.

So, I thought it worth mentioning here, in case any readers, like me, had not spotted the announcement: Expression of Interest Page.
