I’m aiming to be there. Just hoping I can get my Transit into the car park. Does anyone know if there is a height barrier?

No, there is no height barrier to the grass car park that is used for the events centre where the parking is free to model railway exhibition attendees.

How much parking is there - does it get full?  Never been to Spalding.....

Loads of free parking (on grass) adjacent to the event centre for customers of the model railway exhibition. There are usually a good number of helpful club stewards that will guide you.

Also there are 3 large hard surface car parks at Springfields shopping centre which is right next door to the event centre for which a fee (£2 all day!) is payable.  So there's no shortage of space.

Never been to Spalding.....

I strongly suggest visit on the Sunday. Spalding has grown into a very popular show and you could say it's outgrown it's venue somewhat due to that. Saturday's are therefore very, very busy at times.

I like the Spalding show,  however I can only be there on the Saturdays, So I'm there before opening time at the front of the queue, I rush round the traders first, then stop for a long break in the cafe, while the major crowds go through, then have a leisurely stroll round the layouts later.

The grass car park for those worried is VERY flat, I've never seen anyone have real problems getting off onto the road through the car park, even  when in very  soggy weather..

Must stop off for some modelling tokens on the way home ready for Saturday...

Great signage around the town already with all incoming routes covered - "Model Railway Exhibition This Weekend" on very sturdy looking bright yellow panels.

It should be virtually impossible not to find the venue!  Well done organisors, and fair play to South Holland council for allowing them - some local councils are not so obliging.

Just got back from visiting the exhibition.

Excellent layouts - it was almost impossible to choose a favourite but in the end Leicester South got my vote.

Also a very good mix of traders - something for everyone.

Parking was very well organized - well done all the stewards outside and inside. Good catering as always by the Springfields event centre.

Thanks to everyone involved for a great day out.

A few teething problems with admission and the card machine first thing, but all sorted by lunch time - with plans in place to improve admission times tomorrow.

Vale of Oxbury took the Springfield Cup as chosen by a representative of the local council.

Aisthorpe took the John Brown Memorial Trophy.

A great first day, thanks to everyone who visited!
