RMweb Gold john new Posted November 13, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 13, 2018 A very authentic looking email received today advising me that Royal Mail will be delivering me a parcel tomorrow. The catch, it is from a firm I haven't ordered from on-line based in a City I haven't visited since about 1970. Obviously they expect people to contact them to say that and therefore obtain your personal details as part of "resolving the error". Reason for posting - I am expecting a parcel tomorrow, a more casual/cursory read could have caught me out. Email now deleted, if it was genuine and an unexpected parcel does turn up by RM then I will just take it to the local PO for them to sort out. Steamport Southport
I think this might be related. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/138726-warley-attendees-mailing-list-spam/ Somewhere down the line someone might have got your email address and they are trying it on. Don't delete it. Click on it, mark it as spam and your email account will recognise it as spam next time and send it directly to your spam folder. Don't click on any links in the email as that sends a message to the sender that the account is used. After a few attempts they usually give up as they think the account is dead. The problems start when someone gets curious and clicks on the links. Then you'll start to be bombarded with spam and malware. Jason
