RMweb Premium Hal Nail Posted August 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) Ade, did you see the Minerva wooden minks are out? I was sure I'd see one or two on here but they've been a bit quiet about it! Edited August 22, 2021 by Hal Nail 1

RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted August 22, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 22, 2021 Been out on the bikes today to Dawlish Warren. Managed to get a quick snap of one of the trains passing Cockwood Harbour. Went back there tonight to eat at the Anchor Inn and had a pleasant surprise to meet up with Grahame. Cheers, Ade. 16

Barnaby
Very nice water front views there Ade and that platter of sea food looks delightful. I take it that it was a share platter?
Andrew P
A lovely spot that Ade, we used to frequent the Swans Nest a bit further up towards Exeter and right on the Line.
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted August 23, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 23, 2021 Yes, it was a sharing platter! We just about eat the lot, but it also came with bread and chips. Had a day building the GUV today. Been overcast most of the day. The build is straight forwards enough but a fair amount of cleaning up needed once the parts are free of the sprues. Here is where I am now. Tonight we have Pizza done in the wood fired Pizza oven. A new toy… Cheers, Ade. 10

RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted August 24, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 24, 2021 Today we have been down to the beach at Dawlish Warren. The weather has been good and the beach was very popular but not packed. The sea though was cold! I am used to the Red Sea at this time of year! So it was paddling only. Came back to the van and did some more work the GUV. The body is now together and the floor is in. Tomorrow I will start work on the chassis. Cheers, Ade. 8
101
Not sure how you get away with it - I would never be allowed to that on holiday! Looks a nice kit though, think I may have to get one myself 3
brossard
It is a very nice kit but as with most kits you need to do your research to find the details that are missing. ISTR that the window bars are not included and I made my own. Also the underframe benefits from research to get it right. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123148-sr-4-wheeled-cct/ I will stop in to provide my 2 cents. RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted August 25, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 25, 2021 Thanks John, I will certainly be adding some window bars. Here is where l am at now after another session on the kit today. Cheers, Ade. 9

Brake detail generally and particularly when brass, is the bit i just cant be bothered with and the reason why my "in progress" pile has a proportionally high number of Slaters kits! I particularly dislike doing clasp brake gear. Edited August 27, 2021 by Hal Nail
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted August 27, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 27, 2021 The main line done here at Dawlish is really great for trainspotters. I have enjoyed seeing the last of the class 43’s running as four car sets, but not had the phone handy to take any pics. Today we caught the ferry at Starcross to Exmouth and we have been on a cruise down the Jurassic coast. We started out on the top deck but as the clouds came in we retreated to the lower deck!
Andrew P
A lovely part of the world Ade, I used to love going to Starcross and along there when living at Buckfast and Buckfastleigh. Mum and Dad lived on the River side at Topsham. 2
bgman
Seems you've been fortunate with the weather Ade, some lovely photographs too. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else now. Enjoy.
