Robatron86
I thoroughly recommend this show. A great place to see layouts outside of the norm.
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted February 7, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 7, 2019 Probably the only good thing about Didcot other than the GWS and the station.
RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted February 7, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 7, 2019 Perhaps my favourite show now. Definitely aiming to pay a visit.
RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted May 10, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 10, 2019 A couple of content updates: 2 modelling demonstrations: Australian H0 by Iain Hunter Bonsai RhB (Nm) by Paul Steadman & Jon Hall And 2 more societies have confirmed attendance: Italian Railway Society Austrian Railway Group Just 5 weeks away!
RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted June 6, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 6, 2019 A couple of minor changes to the line-up: Sadly the Darjeeling & Himalayan Society cannot now attend, their slot has been filled by the Scandinavian Railway Society and Peter McConnell informs me that he'll be bringing Nippon Tetsudo in place of Sankei Valley as the Japanese Z gauge exhibit. Just over a week to go!

That's a little unfair - There is also the train to Oxford ! Or, if you want to go downmarket, the train to Swindon.

RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted June 14, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2019 GAHHHH!!!! Had a call from the venue about an hour ago - due to a monumental cawk-up their end, we've lost one of our rooms (the long back room, for those that know the venue) due to a double booking. So I'm afraid I've had no choice but to reduce the content of the show in order to fit into the remaining space: Layouts Central Environment (inc) (US H0) – Myles Munsey Dietrichsdorf (German H0) – Stephen Davies Dobríš (Czech H0) – Ian Lampkin Edelweiss (Swiss H0) – Kevin Player Ferrocarril San Maria Gandia (Spanish H0) – Ian Milroy Gakunan Tetsudo (Japanese N) - Steve Nicholls Gügligen (German H0) – Alan Peacock Koln Draußen (German H0) – Andrew Knights Marmagne (French H0) – Tony Durose Neu-Isenheim Gbf (German N micro-layout) – Paul Smith Oberdorf (German Nm) – Piers Milne Polcome Depot (UK O) – Mark Pollard Nippon Tetsudo (Japanese Z) – Peter McConnell Santa Agueda (Portugese H0) – Martin & Tom Petch Tenac (French N) – Tim Hills Tyskie-Wielkopolska (Polish H0) – Alan Wardman Demonstrations Australian Modelling - Iain Hunter Bonsai RhB - Paul Steadmann & Jon Hall Trade Chris Roberts (new locos and stock) Continental Modeller magazine David Smith (2nd hand books and paperwork) Elaine’s Trains (pre-owned models) JB’s Modelworld (stock storage and tools) Mainline & Maritime (books and magazines) Model Mania & co (new & pre-owned, display cases, etc) Mount Tabor Models (new locos and stock) Minitrains (RTR narrow gauge) Societies/Other Benelux Railway Society British 1:87 Scale Society British Overseas Railways Historic Trust European Railway Association French Railways Society Swiss Railways Society Austrian Railway Group Scandinavian Railway Society Italian Railway Society The German Railway Society stand The GRS stand will include sales of our own souvenirs, books and pamphlets, plus second-hand sales. RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) I hope they give you a discount for the lost revenue with the show being smaller. Hoping to be there as a punter anyway Edited June 14, 2019 by PaulRhB 1
RMweb Premium readingtype Posted June 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 14, 2019 I'm not an entirely disinterested party, but even after the harsh pruning I reckon this is still a great group of layouts to bring together. And if we still have use of the tea-making equipment all will be well :-)
RMweb Gold Jonboy Posted June 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 15, 2019 Still a great exhibition with some very nice layouts, a friendly team and tasty bacon rolls. when I told my wife the nature of the double booking she asked if there was a miniature battle with scale weapons.... 1
RMweb Premium MrTea Posted June 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 15, 2019 We spent an enjoyable hour and a half at the show this afternoon. Highlights for me were the Spanish narrow gauge layout - San Maria Gandia and the German layout set in Bavaria. There was also an exquisite 1:150 Japanese cameo layout featuring hand built track. Nice to see a mixture of eras, locations and scales in an accessible venue. The refreshments were very reasonable too!
RMweb Premium readingtype Posted June 16, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 16, 2019 As well as the illustrious GRS event there was also a celebration of the 175th anniversary of the opening of the line between Didcot and Oxford on Saturday, and this was the scene at Didcot just after 18:00 as I waited for my train back from the show.
