RMweb Premium Ian Morgan Posted September 23, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 23, 2019 You will also need to have a very good idea of what you want and give a clear description in your specification, because you will get what you ask for - not necessarily what you want. RMweb Gold Harlequin Posted September 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 23, 2019 Don't they do DCC on the Isle of Wight, then?

That applies to any trade, you need to have a clear understanding of what you want - negotiate, negotiate, negotiate! Especially for something custom built, such as a model railway. I run data cables and I've had customers say things like, '1 point in that room, one in that one' etc. Sorry not good enough, they need to point out, with a rough sketch (a proper drawing isn't necessary, except for larger jobs) showing WHERE in each room. If you don't clarify, the customer won't like where you've put them and expect to get them moved for free. No way, do you fall for that mistake! So anyone who wants a layout built, needs to carefully discuss some expectations and those intending to build it, need to ask lots of questions. Otherwise both parties will be in trouble and disappointed. 1 1

RMweb Gold BoD Posted September 23, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 23, 2019 (edited) You assume that it’s cheaper buying it that way - but how many can be bothered to actually work it out or shop around? Plus, it’s all setrack if you are happy with that geometry. Edited September 23, 2019 by BoD
JRamsden
There's a really well-stocked model shop in Sandown called Upstairs Downstairs. Maybe the guy there will be able to help you out? Web link: https://www.trainshop.co.uk/
