RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted December 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 4, 2019 Check out Wikipedia Images for a good selection, mostly steam but enough diesel era to give you a good flavour of the place. The steam shed, two 4 road sections, was demolished shortly after the end of steam in the area in 1965, but 4 roads remained with inspection pits for diesel stabling, with the north wall of the steam shed left standing. Behind that was a small maintenance shed. The whole thing was a fan of sidings kicking back from the parcels depot and carriage sidings of Gloucester Central station. It was divided from Horton Road by a brick wall high enough to prevent you looking over the top. Just about every type of main line BR diesel loco showed up there at one time or another, exceptions being Baby Deltic, Metrovick, and D61xx.
F-UnitMad
I don't know how recent the Google Maps satelite images are, but the show the old shed tracks still in place, & the maintenance shed behind them. Although the area is quite overgrown now, the general layout of the tracks can still be made out. Not sure how to put the map location here, but search for Gloucester Royal Hospital & the engine shed was just south of that.
