tractor_37260
Can anyone advise what the differences are between a Loksound V5 and a Loksound V5 DCC ? TIA
Ron Ron Ron
The LokSound V5 is a multi protocol decoder, that works with the DCC, Marklin Motorola, M4 and Selectrix digital formats. The V5 DCC version only works with the DCC format and should be slightly cheaper. .
pauliebanger
There are other differences. The 'DCC' version is supposed to be for USA (and markets supplied via USA). The multiplier used in CVs 3 and 4 is different between the two, so may affect consisting. Best regards, Paul
RMweb Gold 55020 Posted May 21, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 21, 2020 Eddie, just really adding to Richard's comments. If you wish to load in a new sound file, it is important that it is formatted for the version of V5 that you have. If you are getting a project from Bif for example, let him know it's a V5 DCC and he'll send you the file in the correct format. The V5 DCC will work in the same way as the "full fat V5" as long as you're not using any of the more Euro-centric dcc-like formats. If you have a Lokprogrammer, you will notice that if you start a new project the first thing the program will ask is what decoder it is intended for. This list has the V5 and V5 DCC as seperate entries. It's a shame that the DCC version is not marketed here. Steve

wiggy1
Just a clarification. LokSound 5 DCC is DCC only, Meaning it is simply not multiprotocol. It is still a “dual mode” meaning it will work on Digital and (DC)Analog so it will still work on DC layouts (with the normal DC limits). It will not work on AC Analog though… In Digital mode it will just speak the DCC digital language, not any other digital languages. MFX/Motorola/Etc.
