Well it been a hectic couple of weeks getting the layout to a finnished state and with the pics having been taken for Railway Modeller I can now relax a bit and start the planing for my next project or projects. I have taken some more pic's as I keep seeing little bits that turn into new shots and the ones of Bob's (BIG BOB) OTA timber wagons and a RES 47 I have just bought for one of my next layouts.

Now that Glen Roy is all finished, how about something with 3TG 47s & 37s based around the Eastleigh area like it used to be with locos stored up alongside the station...happy days eh, keep up the excellent work and look forward to the next layout very soon (if l know you)..........georgeT

I like this layout a lot. It is well designed and beautifully modelled. It has that undefinable "good feel" to it.

Have you a plan for it or did I miss it?

Best, Pete.

Hi Pete, Thanks yor your nice comments, the plan is almost what you see in the photos above, the point on the left comes in from the fiddle yard through a cutting, the next is a short head shunt / siding, the straight track is to the goods shed and the one down to the right is the coal sidings.

The pictures were for inspiration rather that fact, but you were correct the the class 60s were built from 1989 well spotted

1989, you are right George,  well we did have veriaity at Eastleigh back then with as you can see 60's  47's 37' 33's  73's 56's, and the odd 58 for good measure, and a good mix if liveries from plain blue, Large Logo blue Large Logo grey, Intercity, 3TG, Dutch, RES, Parcels, Mainline Blue, Transrail Grey, Loadhaul Black and Orange, Freightliner Grey  etc etc and in just a couple of years from this pic it would all start to vanish with the introduction of EWS sorry EW&S and we thought that colourfull liveries were gone for good but then came DRS Freightliner Green, GBRF, Malcolm and still today the list is growing again so yes that picture is insperational and will help plan the next project, Thanks Andy.

Thank you, I thought so but did not wish to assume so! It's a lovely layout.

Hi been out of action for a few weeks busy with work and other things, but I have also built a 5 road swiveling sector fiddle yard for Glen Roy so it is now ready to exhibit as and when I get invites ! I have also bought a couple of Bachmann units and a 37 and a 66 also a couple of Hornby  60's ready for the next project, Marston or Deesdale Road  but they look quite good on here for now.

Hi All, well I was out at the Great Central Railway the other Saturday and fell in love with the Black 5 ! On the way home Jeff and I called in at one of our local model shops in Gresley and I spotted a second hand Scottish Hornby Black 5 DCC ready as new and boxed. Well I just could not say no and a few hours later it was coaled, crewed, weathered and working one of the last steam services to Glen Roy. Since the photos were taken I have made and fitted some front steam pipes from brass. The other photo is of my 37 now weathered and ready for service although this will run mainly on Deesdale Road and later on it will be used on Marston Sidings.

That's more like it- proper motive power at last :P - recommended for every Scottish branch line!. There is some seriously good Black V You Tube footage around of the various Great Britain's with Highland Line Black Fives delighting the eye to futher tempt you.

Eastleigh in 1985, just to get you thinking andy (Great days)

Hi mate

Love the old photos, love to look back at days in Br Blue, I didnt think the Class 60 were as old as 1985...

Love the Layout pictures dude, keep them coming... and the real life photos to, they are just as good... after all, its what inspires us to re-creat a layout in the first place, to take us all back to our younger years where Health & Safty was not a big issue.

Love it mate. B)

Regards

Jamie

Well Glen Roy will have it's first proper outing this Easter weekend at the Gresley and Wychnor Model Railway Groups open days on Sunday and Monday, Church Gresley, just up the hill from the Morrisons store in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire. It will be running BR Blue period and I am looking forward to it very much. I had Deesdale Road there last November as a work in progress so this will be good to run a finished layout and gauge public reaction.

Well I have gone a bit mad lately and topped up my stock box, I have bought some more Blue's for Glen Roy and some green Locos for my new project Marston. I am sorry to say that other work has taken priority over the weathering, crew fitting and pipework of the new stuff but it will all be sorted before the Elizabethan Railway Show at Kirkby in Ashfield in early October (8th & 9th). First up 20028 on a Minerals working out of Glen Roy.

Hi Neil, well I sold my O Gauge one St Budoc which is due in RM soon, Glen Roy is still active and Deesdale Road will be busy with a few bookings coming up. The new Layout Marston is coming on well and I will post some more shots of that in the next day or so. My room is only 9 ft x 7 ft 6 inches so Glen Roy is down one wall with my work bench underneath. Marston along the other and Deesdale stands up at the end. GOOD JOB I'M ANOREXIC.
