Penelope is the first passenger on the layout and she's off to a dance in the next town. Back to building layout, I have been busy making trees for behind the station and signal box section, will post photos when they are added to the layout. I have been working on the back of the layout and made a small embankment and laid some cardboard down behind the station to raise hight so I can add vegetation etc. Here are a few photos: Embankment and grass behind signal box. I wish i had made the embankment slightly taller but never mind. A few more figures added, some need painting. Overall view of left side of layout. Hi Jerry, Don't worry about the embankment, make the trees that are going on there a little bit taller and add undergrowth and this will increase the visual height volume, you'll hardly notice the low embankment. Engine lane, your layout looks great and I too reuse things as prices in the model shops are getting expensive. I'm going to add some undergrowth to the embankment too. I have been busy painting some figures and adding a bit more hedging around the station, here are a few photos: Hedging added around back of platform. Overall view of the station. Some of the figures I painted. Some more figures. I'm going to add one or two more figures and that be it for platform figures, I will then add platform lights, trolley, luggage etc. More soon. Last night I managed a bit of work around the goods area of the layout. I put in a wooden fence around the left hand side of the provender store, added some weeds etc. Here are a couple of photos: Wooden fence added. Photo showing scratchbuilt outside toilet which has a toilet inside and toilet roll hanging on the door. I have a few more little jobs to do on the layout so hopefully tonight I can get some done. TechnicArrow Posted April 13, 2020 Share Posted April 13, 2020 As others have said it's all looking good; the layout has a nice balance of railway and non-railway scenic space, and the goods yard and cottage are very tidy. The stone wall has been bugging me for a while as I just don't think it looks quite right. I have been toying with the idea of a forest type backscene or something similar, I like the idea of buttress and ivy and will give it some thought. More soon. Jerry.
