I checked the date of the report first, but it seems a genuine - if bizarre - incident.

But I find the comment above in the OP equally puzzling. Theme or inspiration to do what, exactly? Model the scene? Crash your engines off the edge of your layout? :scratchhead: :dontknow:

Back in the 1970's at the Port of Brownsville (southern tip of Texas), a crew was shoving a cut of empty gons on a track that ended up perpendicular to the edge of the wharf.  The engineer missed a stop signal and shoved a car off the edge of the wharf into the side of a retired ocean liner tied up at the wharf, and the coupler on the car poked a hole in the hull of the ship (well above the water line so there was no danger of sinking.)  Lawsuits ensued.
