RMweb Premium M.I.B Posted April 2, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 2, 2020 I have been very kindly been given a pair of elbow pipes in OO which could be used to update a Star. I am also aware that straight pipes are needed to update late moguls. Whilst not wanting to go "into business" if there is a way to get a few sets made and out to people who need these, at cost, that would be a good thing to do. A few questions to the Hive-mind of RM Web: 1. What is the best way to have these replicated - 3D print, white metal, moulded "plastic"???? 2. And is this going to be viable? If the 3D set up costs £50, it's tough to spread that over a dozen sets. 3. If someone is making Castle style elbow pipes, it's not worth starting. richbrummitt
From your starting point of I have some how do I make more from these then resin casting using that you have as the master seems most viable imo.
The Great Bear
247 developments do some outside steam pipes in white metal, straight ones and later King/Castle ones - though probably not the ones you need for Stars? https://www.247developments.co.uk/loco_detailing.html
Steamport Southport
I'm pretty sure that SE Finecast do them. They have both a Star and Castle in the range and do say they will supply any parts. http://www.sefinecast.co.uk/Spare Parts/Spare Parts.htm Jason

RMweb Gold Harlequin Posted April 4, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 4, 2020 If you don't want to go into business and the costs don't stack up for whatever reasons, how about making 3D models of the pipes publicly available for people to print on their own 3D printer? RMweb Gold The Fatadder Posted April 4, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 4, 2020 Have a look for @Pixie’s workbench on here, he recently posted some good instructions on resin casting which I think would be ideal for making up a batch of these
