Babbacombe model village and garden railway

I visited the Model village at Babbacombe in Torquay a few weeks ago. Excellent place and full of inspiration for a garden railway.

 

Their own railway featured some 47 like diesels running when i visited and the bridge over their pond is amazing. i think its roughly G scale.

Thanks for that on a Saturday night! I went there almost exactly two years ago - it is all of 15' leisurely walk from Sherry's flat. I enjoyed it rather more than I expected, loved the bad puns etc.. Clever, imaginative and extensive. Sherry's grandkids  - 6 & 9 then - loved it too, so the audience appeal is widely spread in age.

Always popular with our family on many holidays in Torbay stretching back 30 years. The gardens alone are well kept,  superbly planted and very colourful. It's been there for years and long may it continue.

Just thinking - it would be good fun for model villages to feature nods to each other in their detailing - for example Bekonscot having road signs and bus destinations with 'Babbacombe' written on it, and vice versa....
