Ben Alder
Can someone refresh my memory of the prototype for this venerable model, please. I am sure I knew at one time but a search didn't produce any tangible results.

Wickham Green too
I think the 'E' prefix is a red herring ..... I'm pretty sure none of the railway companies had this exact variant - only the 'Private Owners'. ( It's always been a half-decent body - but a good chassis upgrade is WELL OVERDUE ! ) Edited January 22, 2022 by Wickham Green too
jim.snowdon
The nearest the main line railways came to these were the LNER's 20T wooden loco coal wagons, which had cupboard doors, and the Southern Railway's 20T wagons, which had the drop doors but no end doors, some being allocated to loco coal and the remainder to ordinary coal traffic. The wagon itself is an example of the RCH 1923 standard 20T coal wagon, itself an update of the 20T coal wagon from the 1907 series. 3
Ben Alder
Thanks all - did a general Google about all this but never thought to prefix it with RMweb....I am now in the throes of hacking one about as the LNER wagon, and after a suggestion on one of the links, cut down the top plank, which makes a big difference. Cupboard doors added as well. If I don't get distracted I'll post up the results.
