6990WitherslackHall
I visited the NYMR yesterday and saw a four car train consisting of a Class 158 and a 156 pull into Grosmont. I didn't get a photo though. But I did see Class 155 155341 at Bridlington before I left for Scarborough enroute to Pickering.

eastwestdivide
Raiding the archives a bit, we have these from 1986-88. 150 at a gloomy Banbury on a test/training run from the north, 1986. It rained most of the day and I had a dodgy sausage roll before coming back: 151 on the Swansea/Landore open day shuttle. Pity I didn't take any interior shots: 155 at Par. I was on an all-line rover, and was unimpressed by the noise levels from these on long-ish distance services with windows open in the summer: 156 at Chinley: 156 at Reedham:

whart57
Where I live the railway tracks have three rails rather than two so my first encounter with an 158 was rather further away, at Makkasan station in Eastern Bangkok. I had no idea what my train to central Bangkok would consist of and it turned out to be a set of the export variety of class 158, built at BREL for Thailand's metre gauge. I also took a pic after we had arrived at Hualamphong. Railway photography in tropical countries like Thailand can be a challenge because of the high contrast between bright sunlight and shade. Even under the overall roof of Hualamphong the outside brightness influences the exposure calculations. Incidentally, the Thai writing on the side translates as "Express", and the Thais were clearly content to go with the Regional Railways livery BREL were using on the other side of the factory at the time. 8

No. There were two, built by Metro Cammell as a competing design to BREL’s 150 prototypes. BREL won the big order. RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted July 16, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 16, 2022 Exeter St Davids 7.7.22. 159016 has just arrived from Waterloo, while 150233 is ready to leave for Exmouth. Sadly it didn't go, as the door interlock on the leading vehicle was faulty and the crew declared it a failure. After much discussion and detraining passengers, it eventually went into the depot. This meant that the Up Paignton service, formed of a 166, sat outside in the sun for at least 10 minutes, awaiting platform, but also awaiting the failed unit being inside clear at the depot before the road could be reset. Tedious for all concerned. 3
