With a bit of luck they might keep going with the Mk2As so we get them to a matching standard! ;)

Bachmann's offering isn't bad, but I agree that having them from the same manufacturer is likely to produce a better matching product.

definitely, but the Accurascale stuff is on a different level and good to have a matching rake from the same manufacturer for colour and livery application consistent

I do agree there; just have to keep fingers crossed that Accurascale do as well!

This video may have some inspiration for you:

An excellent video, part of a really interesting set.

Check out the train at 3:03, great excuse to buy up reduced BSOs when manufacturers make too many and the TSOs go out of stock.

Another useful video is below.  I think there are a couple filmed at Larbert which I will try to find, although they are late 80s rather mid 80s.  You'd just have to watch out for Aberdeen bound services, as in the one on the thumbnail. At Perth in tbe 80s, Aberdeen or Dundee services used the curved platforms, Inverness services the straight platforms.

A quick question which may end up in a long answer.

Did the Mk2c  TSO(T) coaches have ScotRail or Intercity branding.  I can't tell from a couple of you tube videos / Flickr images i've looked at.

If it was ScotRail, the question then will be how easy will it be to remove the Intercity on the Accurascale models to replace with ScotRail.  Only time will tell.

I dont recall intercity livered coaches with scotrail branding, they would have a blue stripe not a red.

Some blue greys definitely said Scotrail,

first two are clearly ScotRail,  third is Intercity, cannot tell the last two.

even mk3’s (see the blue grey here)

ScotRail MK 3 Coach SC 12051 in new livery.

all above a flickr UrLs, not mine.

Some ScotRail branded mk2 blue greys ended up in Manchester to, after the 156’s arrived in the highlands.

Accurascale have done two ScotRail mk2C blue greys, 7551 and 9446

ive ordered a scary amount of mk2b and c’s… they were my core childhood, West country, Scotland and North West.

What I dont get, is I can order 4 x mk2 with all bells and whistles for nigh on £240.. yet turn it into a CEP with a c£1 motor, it becomes £600 ?.. yet £ for lb.. i’d have as many vehicles of both, if the price gulf wasnt so wide… indeed i’d have more emu vehicles as i’d be running 8 coaches instead of 4-7’s.

Thanks for responding, I should have been clearer, my question is whether or not the blue grey livery mk2c had ScotRail or Intercity lettering.

I think that depending on period, prototype photos are needed to be representative of an appropriate mixture; though by the later years "ScotRail" branding seemed fairly consistently applied compared to even the mid-80s (1985/6).

But to illustrate my point, a photo of the 1333 Glasgow Queen Street - Inverness, taken in April 1990, has a set formed:

2A TSO

2A TSO

2A TSO

2D TSOT (presumably 6603)

2C BSO

All vehicles carry "ScotRail" branding except the BSO which carries none at all.

I think you'd need to look through quite a lot of photos from the period to see, but it's not always easy to tell from the standard photo of the loco and train behind. On thinking about it, videos might be easier to see more detail of the coaches behind as they pass.

Was it not initially branded as a 'Scotrail' before becoming 'ScotRail' latterly and also some branded with 'Intercity Scotrail' too?

Been looking around and found 2 photos in W J Andersons books  1986 and 1987 respectively and a video 1986 with Mk2c TSOT with ScotRail lettering.  Where visible both Mk2c have the Mk2b style toilet windows.  I also found a video from 1988 of a TSOT at Queen Street with InterCity.

Having recently read a forum on Accurascale Mk2b where Flood converted a Mk2b TSO to a Mk2c TSOT  I found out there is a vent as well as toilet variation! It looks like most of the ScotRail TSOT  had the MK2b toilet type windows and different vents to the current TSOT on offer from Accurascale -Ignorance was bliss!

@Waverley47708

Correct.

All the Inverness Mk2C TSOTs had the early toilet window. 6510, 6514 and 6518 had G vents like the model I made, these are the higher version of the EE cab roof vent. I used 20 thou strip super glued to the bottom and then trimmed. 6519 had GM vents so the cab roof vents can be used with no modification.

The second and fourth photos above have definitely got G vents, the first photo may be 6519 with the lower GM style.

I was watching a YouTube video yesterday and what appears to  be the same departure in the 4rth picture featured.  The 47 with the Intercity branded TSOT.  The above was on a John K Wells video but the video I watched yesterday morning was a The Roy Bowden Collection.  I have loads of such videos saved in playlists and sometimes can't recall where a particular scene is, no wonder I get confused when two of my favourite uploaders have similar footage!  TSOT  departs at 23mins.

Anyway this time the 1988 video includes an image where the number can be made out, it appears to be 6510. Before I could make out the number  I assumed with the Intercity branding it wasn't one if the Inverness 4.  However it appears it was.

I've also noted some variation with some of the Scotrail branded Mk2c ones where the red line does not extend over the door.

I have a Mk2c TSOT on order but after finding out from Flood that all of the Inverness based Mk2c have the earlier toilet windows I've ended up getting another Mk2b of ebay and ordered some parts, roof hatches and GM vents from Southern Pride Models.  I could only find a Mk2b with Intercity branding, I hope it comes off so it can be replaced with ScotRail as easily as Accurascale removed the transfers from one of their Deltics on another you tube video.  Wish me luck......

@Waverley47708 I removed the Network SouthEast branding from a blue and grey Accurascale Mk2B using meths and a cotton bud. Worked really well and very easily.

The non smoking signs can be removed the same way.

The video of 47641 shows all three Mk2C vent variations and the scallop vents on a Mk2A.

The first coach is 6510 with G vents, the second is an early Mk2C BFK with GM vents, the third is a Mk2C BSO with Roevac vents and the fourth is a Mk2A.

Apologies for the late arrival of the YouTube video I mentioned last November.  I've finally found it again. A few Mk2 rakes to enjoy.  Although services to Inverness and Aberdeen would have passed Larbert I think the Glasgow Aberdeens would have been push pulls by then.
