esca
I recently purchased the TCS DP2X decoder for the Bachman 4MT. It fits the socket but it is too wide to fit into the boiler. I could file the boiler away but it would show. Is there another TCS decoder that would fit ? I have been to their web site which was no help, and I have emailed them, but no reply...as yet. I am impatient.
RMweb Gold RFS Posted June 22, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2010 Same here. I've ended up fitting it with a standard Bachmann decoder with harness, as there is space to tuck it away despite the size of the decoder. I suspect other decoders with harness will fit too. I'm a bit miffed about that because although the decoder works fine it repeatedly resets to address 3.
OFFTHE RAILS
Which TCS decoder do you have? In the post title you have TCS DP2X-UK but in the post you say it's a TCS DP2X. These are different decoders - the one with the UK suffix is narrow, the one with no UK suffix is wide. The TCS DP2X-UK is narrow enough to fit virtually all Hornby/Bachmann models. BromsMods
There is a list of locos the DP2X-UK won't fit at the bottom of http://www.bromsgrovemodels.co.uk/tcsdecodersdp2x.htm
RMweb Gold RFS Posted June 22, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 22, 2010 Neither will fit the Bachmann 4MT 4-6-0. The DP2X-UK is just too wide for the boiler opening, whereas the DP2X wouldn't fit by a mile. I have DP2X-UK fitted to the standard 5MT and the 4MT 2-6-0 without a problem. esca
Thanks guys for the replies. I have the DP2X-Uk and as RFS says,it will not fit. I have had a reply from TCS. They tell me I need an M1P-SH.
