RMweb Gold 46444 Posted July 10, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 10, 2022 Along the line on the Wadenhoe & Lilford Light Railway in rural East Northamptonshire was Stoke Doyle Goods Depot. A rural railway back water serving this agricultural community. Stoke Doyle is in between Wadenhoe Road Station at Pilton and Oundle. It is a small village with the parish church of St. Rumbold and the Shuckburgh Arms public house of note. In the 1950's Baldwin 4-6-0 Captain Fisher (minus nameplates) and her crew are seen on a shunt move with an ex-WD open wagon. Watched attentively by Daphne and Mike in their yellow peril Messerschmitt. More in the next few days and a bit more detail about the layout itself. RMweb Gold 46444 Posted July 11, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 11, 2022 Here's another snap of Baldwin 'Captain Fisher' at work... To the left of the shot is an overgrown WW2 pill box. The pill box is the venerable Wills kit surrounded by horse hair and Noch fibres/leaves. Gun apertures have been bricked up. Primroses and Blubells courtesy of Woodland Scenics Firm hold Co-op own brand hair spray worked wonders here. The static grass is a mixture of Noch/Jarvis and Woodland Scenics. Although I possess a static tea strainer for donning static grass nothing fancy has been used here. Just my trusty Noch/Gaugemaster static puffer bottle. Thanks for looking. RMweb Gold 46444 Posted July 13, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 13, 2022 (edited) Tonight I have managed to get the lighting/fascia in situ and also test signage. All has gone well... For those in the East Riding or visiting, Stoke Doyle Goods will be appearing at the Filey Show this weekend. A friendly show held to raise funds for St. John's Church and well worth a visit. Hope to see some of you there. Cheers Mark Edited July 13, 2022 by 46444 10

RMweb Gold 46444 Posted July 16, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 16, 2022 Just a reminder that Stoke Doyle Goods will be appearing at the Filey Show today. Looking forwards to a good day of playing trains and meeting a few members of this parish. Should be a nice friendly show and worth a visit. St. John's Church, Filey, 10.00-16.00. An emergency tin of Lynx is on standby if it starts getting too aromatic... Cheers, Mark

Thanks Chris, I think Stoke Doyle flew under the radar 😉 With regards to the dimensions of Stoke Doyle it is a standard IKEA Lack 110cm x 26cm shelf. There's actually a few jobs to finish on the layout so there will be a few more updates shortly. Thanks once again. Is that the scenic area or including fiddle yards? Very interesting, I’ve got a spare one of them sat in the loft doing very little… Thanks, looking forward to seeing more!
Broadoak
The back scene reminds me very much of the Welland valley. A lovely model. Kind regards Peter M

When I operated it at the Filey Show although it is the most basic of track layouts I was entertained enough during the 6 hours of the show whilst talking to the punters. RMweb Gold 46444 Posted March 21, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 21, 2023 Stoke Doyle Goods will be appearing at this forthcoming weekend's Macclesfield Exhibition. I have been doing a few preliminary checks ensuring everything is in order ready for the trip south. Bit of test running this evening. I have been using some Welsh influences not normally seen in East Northamptonshire..😉 It will be good to meet up with some new and old faces over the weekend. It performed faultlessly throughout the two days unlike the operator...😄 Got back safely to the West Riding after a brilliant weekend. I think those two drivers have been influenced by Kraftwerk in their joint poses...😉 Cheers, Mark Edited March 27, 2023 by 46444 5
1722
Great to see. I still struggle to believe that it is all enclosed on an Ikea Lack, similarly with Juniper Hill, it looks so much bigger - I don't know how you do it!
