LMS2968
I'm struggling to find the name of a signal box located between Standish Junction and Coppull Hall sidings on the West Coast route. It was on the Up side slightly north of Bradley Mills. It was there in 1950 (Britain from Above photos show it) but isn't mentioned in the Signalling Record Society diagrams of the area, suggesting that it was closed soon after that date. Anyone got any information about it?
RMweb Gold nigb55009 Posted August 2, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 2, 2022 I have a 1937 edition of the LMS Sectional Appendix, Western Division North of Crewe. A signal box called Broomfield & Worthigton Hall is listed and is shown as located 993 yards north of Standish Junction. Unfortunately it doesn`t show which side ot the line it is located. Hope this is of some help. 1 1
Wickham Green too
Pure guess that it was just there because of the mill and may have been named accordingly ................... the mill site's now a ( not rail connected ) trading estate, by the look of it, so the box could have closed whenever the mill did.

Many thanks.
Wickham Green too
Maybe the Railway were hedging their bets with the name and hoping it would tempt His Worthington Hall Lordship to request - and pay for - a passenger station there !
LMS2968
Using the name so helpfully provided by nigb55009, I found this very useful site:https://www.s-r-s.org.uk/railref/ref-nw.php. Broomfield & Worthigton Hall is over half way down but there's so much information on there that I thought it right to share with everyone.
