Silurian
I have acquired a Golden Valley/Oxford Janus loco. A very nice model, but it has lost a crankpin. I contacted Oxford, who pointed me at Golden Valley, who pointed me at Peter’s spares. Sadly Peter’s spares confirmed they don’t carry spares for Oxford/Golden Valley parts. So now i have a dcc loco which is onky good for standing on the depot scrapline. Does anyone out there know whether a crankpin from somthing else would fit, or a source of small metric shouldered bolts. Nick
Mark Saunders
It must be a common cheap part but identifying the specification is the problem!
micklner
300 hits for Metric Shouldered Bolts on ebay.
Silurian
300 hits that go to zero when you look for sizes that might fit a 4mm scale wheel. I looked at that before posting
RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted August 24, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 24, 2022 Purchasing a set of spectacle nuts and bolts is worth the £6 odd for 1000 different pieces. They come in more than 2 dozen sizes and shapes and are useful for all manner of miniature nut and bolt problems. try keywords like eyeglass spectacle watch phone repair screws etc.. RMweb Gold MikeParkin65 Posted August 24, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 24, 2022 Take out the nearest equivalent pin, measure as far as possible then have a look on Wizard Models for parts used by kit and scratch builders. Also I suspect these parts will be the same or similar to those used by Hornby so thats another potential fix. Good luck

That's what I've done, this set includes some shouldered screws by the looks of it, and waaaay cheaper than official spares:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324240002149 ..and here's a big box of the tiny self tappers beloved by toy train manufacturers:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234456700646 EDIT: they're not actually that tiny, i'll look for some really small ones. EDIT2: now these are tiny self tappers, admittedly from China direct:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223483998734 Edited August 24, 2022 by spamcan61
RMweb Gold adb968008 Posted August 24, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 24, 2022 (edited) Also try M0.8 and M0.6 sizes (length 3-8mm) admittedly they are harder to find specifically and usually more expensive (as people may have bought the above and simply strip those sizes out and resell them on ebay) Edited August 24, 2022 by adb968008
