Ian G
On my drawing board is GW 6t steam crane drawings taken from GWRJ No 79 & Railway Cranes Vol 3. Is there a preserved crane in existence for more detail or are there other photos available please. I intend to build this in 4mm and maybe 7mm Ian G

For images, usual advice for such enquiries: copy & paste 'GWR mobile crane images' into Google!
RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted December 19, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 19, 2022 There is the Cambrian Models 6 ton crane kit available if you would like that option. https://www.cambrianmodelrail.co.uk/store/C5-GWR-6ton-Crane-&-Match-Truck-p93876656 No connection with Cambrian, but remembered they did one. The Cambrian one (C5) is a hand crane, I've got one that just needs a final finish and some decals. Edited December 20, 2022 by melmerby

didcot
The grey crane is diesel from memory. I painted the roof of the Smith & Rodley crane back in the 80s and recieve a ride for my troubles once it had dried.
Forward!
Out of interest- that wheelbase looks tiny- like 7ft or something? Did these ever travel on the mainline or where they for works use only? Will

Hi Ian, Here is GW Standard 6-ton Steam Crane No.57, pictured at Newton Abbot in September 1961. Not the greatest of images, but it may provide you with some detail not seen in the GWRJ article on these cranes. Regards, Andy.
