The trussing underneath would suggest an ex Midland Railway coach, a number of which were transferred from the LMS to the NCC in 1941 to replace coaches destroyed in the blitz. These coaches had shallower trussing than NCC or GNR coaches with that type of trussing.

Looks like my Dapol-based NIR bogie flat chassis didn’t respond well to a spell in the sun…

A new chassis will be built with additional longitudinal stiffeners.  Kirley’s photo will be very useful for additional details.

Cheers

There was a bogie steel carrier at the western end of Ebbw Jct yard for some years with a similar deformation at both ends; the lower part of the truss rods was barely clear of the rail head. I think it was eventually cut-up in situ,

Finally got round to sorting the bogie flat out using a hot water immersion bath and judicious bending with a plunge into cold water.

The plasticard top plate was scribed to represent planking and stays made from etched brass strip installed in pre-drilled holes.

Next step is to add the tie down chains to the containers, which are Bachmann - available as a set of four.

Cheers
