A comet brass sides conversion of an old Airfix B set coach. IT does look very good. What did you use for the corridor connectors?

RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted May 14, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 14, 2023 The fiddle yard is finally completed. We also added 3 roads on the down line. We can then stage a goods train and the autocoach, probably for some odd stock and locos.

Hmm the sides kits I have seen only appear to have sides and droplights. I've since found some on ebay so might use them. RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted May 22, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2023 The Prarie was on milk duties tonight with a down train of Siphons, while the collett on the up express... Probably could do with a bigger GWR loco or 2...

RJS1977
In any case, I'm sure I've seen photos of 22s on the Cambrian Coast Express, so they can haul express trains :-)

RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted May 23, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 23, 2023 The Prarie moves one siphon into the bay for storage, the other is then deposited on the fast up.
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted May 25, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 25, 2023 My Dean goods started messing me around. Kept sticking and once shorted the whole layout, I was getting worried. However, stripped down, oiled and cleaned it's all good. So here she is on a short goods waiting to depart. Oh, is that a siphon in the background 😀
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted June 4, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 4, 2023 I've been building a cattle dock for a few weeks. It's amazing how long it takes to feed in all the wires for the fencing. It's not quite finished, but enough to put in place...
RMweb Gold Graham T Posted June 4, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 4, 2023 That kit does come together nicely though, doesn’t it?
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted June 4, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 4, 2023 It certainly does... Just took me a bit longer than expected.... I've started a couple of Cooper Craft cattle wagons too!
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted June 6, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 6, 2023 It's been a few days since a Siphon picture... 14
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted June 10, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 10, 2023 I've been repairing one old cattle wagon, while also building two. They are all old coopercraft ones, that have been in the box of getting around to for ages. All fitted now with metal wheels and bearings. Quick test run to make sure the chassis are all square..
RMweb Gold Graham T Posted June 10, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 10, 2023 You've probably spotted it already Scott, but it looks like the tiebar on the painted cattle wagon is broken.

Yes.. Although I hadn't, I'd been fixing the bars at the top, I need to find something to repair that with now!

MrWolf
If your cattle wagons aren't fitted with the vacuum brake hoses, (W1 condition rather than W5.) the axle tie bars are superfluous and can be cut off. 2
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted June 11, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 11, 2023 A few tweaks this morning and the cattle wagon is probably ready for some paint. My daughter has challenged me though.. Could I make the roof removable to take the cattle in and out? I need to find my box of plasticard sections.. Maybe? Anyway, the Dean then departs with a goods for the up main. The old gunpowder van doesn't look too bad against the more modern minks...
RMweb Gold Graham T Posted June 11, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 11, 2023 The GPV looks good to me Scott. How about opening doors on one of your cattle wagons? By the way, nice that your kids are enjoying the layout too.

I think I'll start with the roof...
