RMweb Gold Graham T Posted June 11, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 11, 2023 I was thinking of a fake rather than actually operating - removable door held by an interference fit. But a removable roof would almost certainly be easier!

IIRC the Airfix/Dapol cattle wagons (actually post-War but a development of a similar pre-War design) do have opening doors, but most modellers (myself included) tend to glue them shut for rigidity and to stop them opening when they shouldn't!)

Yup, I've a few of those in an old box.. Doors glued shut.. They never really fitted very well either... Sunday night.. So grabbed a beer and let the trains run. Down is quite the collecting of brown stock, I assume empty and being returned up the line somewhere. After the autocoach left the bay, a B set arrived.
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted June 18, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 18, 2023 Fathers Day... Appears the kids have named the station. Looks smart over the window.. 6
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted June 19, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 19, 2023 The cattle trucks are coming together. I've added some plastic square section onto the roofs, it appears to work for now. I'm worried it won't stand up to coming on and off a lot. But time will tell.

RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted June 29, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 29, 2023 Prarie passes a Pannier with the B Set.. It's a while since the Pannier has escaped the yard, the kids tend to do all the shunting with it. Maybe the short Milk train will gain a new Toad before next week is out? 😀

RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted July 5, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 5, 2023 I've now attached 3 Cows onto small plastic bases, which fit inside the cattle wagons nicely.. The issue is getting them in and out without derailing the trucks..
RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted July 5, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 5, 2023 My Daughter wanted to work on her farm tonight. I'd previously painted the rails. So we built up a quick area with foam board and then covered with plaster bandage. Quick, simple ground cover..

RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted July 9, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 9, 2023 Thanks! Actually some old floor underlay we had kicking around. Used it to top the ply and give a bit of a softer top. Not sure how much difference it makes once it's all glued, painted and pinned..

RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted July 19, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 19, 2023 (edited) New stock testing at Oregon Junction.. New 64xx Pannier - Well, people keep telling me that you need more Panniers. Then 3 amazing wagons from @chuffinghell - Again, many thanks, they look amazing. These are with the new Loriot and Toad from Rapido. The digger will want some work if it's going to stay loaded, the arm above the cab is way to high for my foot bridge, but I thought it looked quite smart.. Like I said.. Must not buy more stock... We worked on the tunnel that covers one entry to the fiddle yard. It's removable in case we want to rescue anything. I built the base up with some scraps of wood and the. George helped with the chicken wire and then plaster bandage. Into the garden for the painting.. And back onto the layout..Need to find the flock and satic grass in the next few weeks.. RMweb Gold sjrixon Posted August 11, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 11, 2023 I had a day off with the youngest today, so as its just the two of us, time for some trains.. I've been putting off painting the rest of the track as it means moving everything.. Ideal job when I've got all day.. I then showed him how to cover up the point blades ready for painting.. Then, we got the airbrush out...
