RonnieS
I am just beginning to experiment with tender pick ups . I first tried the DCC Concepts OO gauge wheel pickups but the drag seems to make them unsuitable. The sacrificial lamb is a spare Bachmann Collett goods tender. Has anyone else had more success?
Free At Last
I find bits of pcb and guitar string can make suitable tender pickups. 1
RMweb Gold Bucoops Posted June 23, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 23, 2023 I just tweak them in a bit as they do splay out quite a bit out the pack. I really like them as a concept (ha ha).
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted June 23, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 23, 2023 You might be able to overcome the braking effect on the wheels by stuffing as much ballast as you can manage into the tender body. Also, check that the bearings are running as freely as they can; IIRC they are pinpoint plastic on this tender and can be lubricated with pencil graphite.
