2-6-4T locos in the Manchester area in the 1960s

On a visit to Trafford Park shed in 1965 I noted Fowler, Stanier and Fairburn versions of 2-6-4Tank locos, many in steam. I presume they found work on empty stock trains, but I'm curious as to what else (if anything) were they used on at this (relatively) late date.

Thanks in advance

Trevor

Trafford Park supplied engines to Central station, so I would imagine their use on trains that had to traverse the Fallowfield Loop to Guide Bridge and onwards to Sheffield Victoria and ECS services to and from Cornbrook.  Mainline Peak district services were in the hands of Peaks, DMUs operated on services to Liverpool but any expresses from Liverpool to the East via Central would may require a reversal at Central for the short hop to the wires for a change to a 76/77, such trains were earlier in the hands of Robinson A5 engines all withdrawn by 1960.
