Morning Kev I seem to remember the name boards being removed so time before it was demolished. It was mainly switched out for years but think it was probably closed about 2003 it then had the boards removed and stairs. Was demolished a year or so later I have a feeling the crossover was removed before closure

They look as though the spectacle plate and lamp is located to the left of the post, to reduce the spacing between adjacent dolls. The spectacle plate is inverted. I've seen pictures of vaguely similar GWR signals, centre pivoted to save space of for restricted clearances, e.g. gallows signals under platform awnings. These Saxby signals appear to have repeater arms visible under the bridge arch too. The drawback I can see with placing the spectacle plate to the left of the pivot is that it no longer provides a counterbalance weight tending to return the arm to danger in the case of a linkage failure. Artless Bodger
This photo from wikipedia illustrates the sort of arm I think is used, the lower one with the lamp and spectacle to the left of the post. It's all I can find at the moment.
RMweb Premium Jeremy Cumberland Posted March 31 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 31 Here's Shrewsbury platform 7 up starter: You might also have the lamp and spectacle plates to the right of the pivot, such as these at Droitwich Spa:

Did the Midland ever use centre pivot or somersault signals? We need a Midland signal expert.
Wickham Green too
Just remembered the Midland DID use 'somersault' signals - on their former Belfast & Northern Counties lines - but they were very different looking ! : - Ballymena ; 16/5/88
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted March 31 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 31 Saxilby signals are not somersaults, I suspect they are "one offs"
