Hi Martin,

I've only seen Sturgeon with cranes in preservation.

Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway  have (had) one.

Are you sure it was a sturgeon with cranes?

I can think of Elk and Salmon with cranes.

Yes, some had cranes. Either fit cranes or break off all end bits.

The instructions are not exactly good.

Crane ones fit with my plans.

Silly boy question, but these cranes look as though they can only unload long rails on one side of the wagon as the upright would obstruct the load if wanted on the opposite side.   I can't believe they would design a train so that it has to go to the nearest triangle for turning.  What am I missing?

Sorry I don't know, I was working off spotting information, then found a picture.

I remember seeing the wagons with cranes, there was an Engineer's Yard here at my local station (now a housing estate), but I never saw them being loaded, or any other activity come to that.  Trains must have come and gone whilst I was at work or during the hours of darkness.
