RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted August 5, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 5, 2010 with the railway embankment keeping the sea at bay! That's exactly what it does there!
RMweb Gold beejack Posted August 30, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 30, 2010 OK, so was down in Dawlish Warren last weeek. Not much left at the station one small shelter on each platform and on the exter bound platform there is what can only be described as a converted signal box, only looks too new. Can anyone shed any light on this? I managed to take some phots of the area mainly track layout and equipment etc of the dawlish end of the station, but unfortunately wasn't able to take many due to camera failure. (good excuse for a new camera!) Here's what I managed to get. Last photo clearly shows the GWR coaches are still there though they are starting to look a little tatty on the outside! RMweb Premium Richard E Posted August 30, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 30, 2010 I have a memory of going down to Dawlish Warren as a nipper. We parked up in a field on the landward side of the embankment and walked down to the beach. As we approached the embankment there was this clamour of a train approaching and an immaculate green loco, probably a Castle, shot past with it's train of chocolate and cream coaches. Trouble is it is over 50 years ago now .....
