The Yorkshire Pud
Hi Peter Great to see Glen Gillie up close today at Bakewell ..... excellent layout mate, and really enjoyed chatting with you about what you are planning for the future. The trackwork plan up close looks even more impressive than the photos show (and complicated to operate !!) ....... BTW did Jamie ever come back to help you !! If the missus (my Wendy !!) wasn't in tow, I would have offered to give you a hand ....... looks like a nice layout to play on !! ............. Hope my first effort at building a layout ends up half as good ......... Cheers mate !! Simon.
trains12
Hi All Well back home after the Bakewell show. I must say a big thank you to the lads in the group for putting on a really great friendly show. I did not take too many shots left most of that to Jamie (I think he took 900) the time seemed to fly past. So many visitors said how much they liked the layout. Also I must have given out the web site for the corridor connections to about 20 modellers two came back on the Sunday and said they had ordered them already. The other item that I was asked was why Martin Jones had not mentioned my name in the Railway Modeller regarding Kinmundy as the person who made the whole layout bar the station building. The answer I could only give is that I did not know and to ask Martin. The icing on the cake complete with the cherry was the presentation of the Harold Woodhouse Memorial Trophy for the best layout voted by the members. Very much appreciated. Also it was great to meet some RMWebers like Simon. Any way a few shots I took. Cheers Peter Edited June 11, 2012 by trains12

Hi Andrew Yes got your last PM but have been up to my eyes with things both railways and none railways. The Hartlepool show details are as follows. Sat. & Sunday 7th & 8th of July at the Hartlepool College of Further Education, Stockton Rd. Hartlepool TS24 7LB. It should be a very good show. 20layouts and full trade support. I am there with Porth Eithin and Glen Gillie. Jamie and Ray and Polly are with me. Come and have a go. That also applies to any other RMweb members. trains12
Hi all Here are some shots of the building of the Abbey for the extention. It is the shell of the building which is made from foamboard and will be cover with embossed card. At present the windows are being cut into the card. It has taken a number of drawings to sort out all the shapes and angles that make up the various rooms and chapel. the main part of the buildings have the ground floor 40mm above the base with the front building ie the tee part at beach level. The structure that I have based it on is Incholm Abbey on Incholm island in the Firth of Forth. That Abbey is in ruins where this one will have monks in it. cheers Peter
The Yorkshire Pud
Hi Peter. Nice idea, having an Abbey on the extension ...... not something you see on a model railway layout usually !! Look forward to seeing your progress mate. Cheers !! Simon.

Will your monks be producing honey, perfume and a bit of the distilled stuff, then? No doubt, they'd be relying on the new extension to bring in lots of customers
RMweb Gold DaveyH Posted June 19, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 19, 2012 I really enjoyed this layout at Bakewell. Here's a photo taken from the viewing side.........
trains12
Well done on the trophy the layouts looking good, how long is the extension to be? Hi Imsforever The new extension is 8' long of scenic. There is a small harbour at one end and then the line runs along the loch side to a small halt. Here the footbridge seen earlier in the thread goes up the hill side to the ruined castle. Also from the halt there is a further foot suspension bridge to an island where the abbey is. The main line then passes through a rock outcrop onto a further 4' board which is the fiddle yard.
