is this a British class 86?

Certainly is! One of a handful of ex. BR 86's refurbished for work in Hungary with an operator called Floyd. "Interesting" livery and a good capture. Don't get many class 86's trundling round Bavaria!!

What is this please?

It is a preserved Class E18 or E19 (more likely to be the former) of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, which went on to become the Class 118 or 119 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn.

I believe there may be a couple of examples in active 'Museumsbahn' status with running rights on the main line.

It's an E18. Here's a picture of the front of one of the preserved ones, from last autumn:

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures that show the body sides for comparison; but the arrangement of grilles on the pic above points at an E18, not an E19 (plus there are three times as many of the former preserved).

ex-DB 218 dragging an ex-DB class 100?

post-238-0-81276100-1342610910.jpg

Almost certainly a DBAG 218 dragging an ex DR 202/203/204 series diesel. Looks to be in DB Netz livery. The 202/203/204 series locos are similar to DB V100's but have a slightly boxier design.

The 5 shunters are back now, but this is the only time today there have been 5 (i think). Also why do shunters often bring wagons in the the shunters 'rest area'? They just block themselves and other shunters in?

It's very difficult to tell from this photo, but was the Cats Taurus in Plattling today?

They are DB Class 111 which often top and tail double deck stock, The DB use 15kv ac the ex BR Class 86 are 25kv and are not passed to work in Germany.

I think it must have been a stock move as it waited for a freight train to leave before it and it was at 8:18 local time! I think you are correct about the lok, although the webcam image has slightly different headlight arrangement. Maybe it is some derivative of the one you posted?
