RMweb Premium Chris116 Posted November 9, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 9, 2010 Is there any way of getting an arrivals and departures list for this station, at least on the passenger side? A lot of the time I seem to watch for periods when nothing is happening and must be missing most of the action! Knowing when it is busy would help! Many thanks in advance. Jon Gwinnett
On the hour and just after is the passenger times. I think links to the DB time table have appeared further up the thread, but here it is again. http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/bhftafel.exe/dn?ld=9684&rt=1&

motorcycle
Here are two images from this week I saw. The first was traveling toward the webcam and didn't stop at Plattling. I missed off the front, but it was 2 carriages and the red locomotive the second image was from this morning. I have never seen the yellow thing before. Is it a departmental vehicle? Mike at C&M
Motorcycle, Picture one is a test train of some description, although I can't recognise the loco. The grill arrangement on the roof suggests a Class 120 electric, but the shape doesn't quite look right. Picture two is a departmental unit of some description, but again I cannot say excatly what it is due to insufficient knowledge.
RMweb Premium Welly Posted November 21, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 21, 2010 ^^^ Is that Central Trains livery in the foreground of the second photo? So they now have a franchise in Germany! I bet they rostered that "HundeBox" for a service which 500 people intended to catch!
motorcycle
thanks for the info 87029! from Tuesday onward it is forecast for some snow in Plattling. Hopefully we can watch snow falling out of the window here in the U.K. then turn on the Plattling webcam to watch it snowing there
Mike at C&M
SNOW !!
motorcycle
the temperature gauge on the webcam seems to be about +5C too high, as if you type in "plattling weather" into google, it says the current temperature is 0C
buffalo
It does say "webcam internal temp", so five degrees above ambient sounds quite plausible to me. Nick
Mike at C&M
The reflection off the snow is so bright tonight, that the camera has reverted to colour (Daytime) mode.
motorcycle
it's so much better with the daylight mode on. but it seems to alternate between the two at the moment? I wonder if it would be better off permanently on daytime mode?
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
It's obviously snowed overnight - the chaps are out clearing the switches by hand this morning. Now that's a cold old job... The Germans don't seem to be falling apart like our railways - there was plenty of shunting going on through the night. At the risk of igniting that whole 'why are we so useless when - shock - it snows in winter' how do OHLE railways cope in Europe? Heavier catenary?
Redkiterail
the OHLE on ECML was done on a very cost centre way so it can come down in high winds. The 3rd rail ices up and is no go for power supply to EMU also I think certain parts of Germany have frequent snowfall compared to the UK.
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Poor visibilty, smow and ice, hundreds of tons of heavy machinery rolling through the darkness. Railroading can be hard and dangerous work. Hats off to the boys and girls working out there tonight. And they sure are working....
Jon Gwinnett
Well said that man. Scot rail worked miracles today to keep any trains running. Thanks to all who got me home tonight
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted December 3, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 3, 2010 A fascinatingly wonderful timewaster! I now look every day. The variety of traction is surprising. Question. What is the very prominent beam that is seen across the picture at the front? On a Google satellite pic it is shown that it used to go right across to the station front area. Dr Gerbil-Fritters
busy busy busy... this elok was trailing sparks from the panto well, it beats watching telly!
motorcycle
Google says Plattling will be -19C overnight
Mike at C&M
What is the very prominent beam that is seen across the picture at the front? On a Google satellite pic it is shown that it used to go right across to the station front area. I assume that you mean the footbridge, if you look carefully you can see people crossing. The bridge now finishes in the modern building adjacent to the station building which is a newly built structure containing lifts and staircases. motorcycle
I have seen 2 black locomotives today. and I saw this go through just now, but it didn't stop. I have been reading timetables and would this be Altona-Hamburg to somewhere I can't remember?
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted December 4, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 4, 2010 Alle ist klar! Besten dank! I now see that I'd been 'connecting' the said beam (bridge!) to the lattice post on the left! I now see that they are in no way connected!
Peter Kazmierczak
Alle ist klar! Besten dank! I now see that I'd been 'connecting' the said beam (bridge!) to the lattice post on the left! I now see that they are in no way connected! Don't worry, you're not the only one. When I first looked at the Plattling webcam, it took me a while to realise they were completely separate structures. Nice optical illusion though.
