RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted August 26, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 26, 2010 While lifting a temporary bridge into place between Fideris and Küblis on Tuesday night the RhB KIROW crane appears to have had the temporary abutment give way causing it to slide into the ditch. Fortunately no-one injured but they have to wait until friday evening to get in a crane from Luzern capable of recovering it. The second link shows the apparent collapse of the abutment. http://www.tagblatt.ch/storage/pic/online/unfaelleverbrechen/630911_1_2010-08-25_Bahnunfall_Fideris01_web.jpg http://www.tagblatt.ch/storage/pic/online/unfaelleverbrechen/630912_1_2010-08-25_Bahnunfall_Fideris02_web.jpg from news.ch http://www.news.ch/Baukran+auf+Schiene+gestuerzt/452751/detail.htm

Southernman46
Hmmmm - the same happened to the Balfour Beatty Kirov at Clapham Jn back in 2004 (the SLW system was switched off by the operator if memory serves). I happened to be on-call and it was one of those phone calls when you wonder for a milli-second if someone is kidding. Didn't get any pictures though - was too busy trying to sort the situation out Anybody out there got any ??
