RMweb Premium Ian Smeeton Posted March 31, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 31, 2017 Somewhere along the line I dropped off this thread, I do not know why, but having dropped back in, congrats are due. The layout looks cracking! My only suggestionis: At your crossing, you have dashed white lines implying 'Give Way' At a rail crossing you should have a (thick) white line, or even two, set back a bit further instructing drivers to 'Stop' And as for Jordan, Give him his own thread, to tell us all how he does it. Looks great. Regards Ian

Having looked at some images the lines look solid on the stopping side and dashed on the crossing side. Not sure i can move them back so will just have to live with that. Gloucester Road
William, my oldest, had been making up plastic Star Wars models and starting to practice some weathering techniques. One that he is using is to make the panel lines and fine details pop out using tamiya panel lines paint. It comes in a bottle and applicator, you tap the applicator into the area you want to highlight and the wash flows through the lines. See the lines on the nose, engine and wings I decided that the same thing could work on the model railway and vehicles in particular. VW van before and after RAC van before and after White van I works very well and provides that little pop to pull out some of the doors and other panels. Stephen By the way the x wing is about nscale size at 1:144 Edited May 25, 2017 by Gloucester Road
Black Sheep
looks like, if you pick where to apply, any excess just looks like a bit of build up of muck by the panel line, quite similar to that seen in real life

Gloucester Road
So I went a bit mad with the paneling, it's very subtle from normal viewing distances. One of those details you don't miss until you see that its has been missing, before and after stephen Edited May 28, 2017 by Gloucester Road

Gloucester Road
Nothing like live editing of photos into backscenes. My MRS is in the UK and has sent me many pictures of home. Gloucester Road
This is my favorite time of year here in New Hampshire, temps are cooler, trees are fantastic and with the nights drawing in.....more time for tiny trains, With that said the postman, who is a woman, delivered two boxes from Scenic Express with new scenic material and a package from scalemodelscenery.com. In the box were a custom laser cut name plaques, chain link security fencing, catch pits, tube clamp safety railings and most importantly enough of the laser diorama baseboard kits to make 2 4.5ft dioramas. Here is hoping for a long dark winter! Edited October 27, 2017 by Gloucester Road
