Quiet reflections on traditional country churches

The tin tabernacle on Station Road, Bacton in Suffolk was similarly adorned. Approaching from the south along the B1113 one read "Prepare to meet thy God" on the gable end, which being a nice distraction just before a blind dogleg bridge over the main Norwich line was probably a self-fulfilling prophecy. Along the side of the building (perhaps on the roof - I can't remember) were the words "Be sure your sins will find you out". It used to entertain us no end.

Remind me. Was that "Station" actually Haughley Junction? Had a mate who moved there in 1973, but don't ever remember a station site in Bacton itself.

Again in Derbyshire, at Ticknall the church is near the line of the Ticknall Tramway see

The church is distinguished by being a newer build on a site adjacent to an earlier church which was demolished by dynamite! Part of the original tower and east wall still stand, and can be seen in the picture in the above Wiki reference, and a better picture of the remains at
