I still need to do the roof & build the chassis

Well the railcar is now ready for painting & later today it will have a coat of red primmer

the chassie now just needs pickups fitting to one side then wiring up for DDC

10628499623_b4c8b5c68a_z.jpg

001 by Mozzer models, on Flickr

the roof in the kit was a thick gauge brass & the way the side edge had been half etched (rows of- - - - - ) makes it hard ro roll right so i replaced the roof with a thiner gauge brass i then solded a 3/32 brass tube flush with the edges of the roof & then rolled the roof around this tube then un-solded the tube & removed this gave me a flat roof with rounded over edges i then rolled the rest of the roof to match the body

10628250854_3ac21c5133_z.jpg

002 by Mozzer models, on Flickr

the seat backs on the foot plate are only etch brass so to thicken them up i have added plastcard

there is no room to fit a Kadee coupling box so i have removed the tails off a Kadee NEM coupling then drilled a hole so it could use the rear bolt that holds the body on to also mount the coupling

The chassis now has pickups & beem wired up to its DCC chip the chassis & footplate has had some running in on my Coombe Rock layout & is running nice I will do some more running in once the rest of the kit is finished

At narrow gouge north i was chatting to Simon Chiver about the Chivers 7mm WD 4-6-0 Hunslet & would a RTR chassie fit as i had one of the Electrtren 0-6-0

So after taking some Ruff sizes at the show i looked at the chassie & by shortening the boiler it would

So i but in a order

heres the chassis

13244877703_925abd1abc_c.jpg

100_6860 by Mozzer models, on Flickr

& heres the chassie with the foot plate from the kit

13244720755_03c14df326_c.jpg

100_6861 by Mozzer models, on Flickr

I have started to build up the body witha shorter boiler

13244866423_24d88728a7_c.jpg

100_6864 by Mozzer models, on Flickr

Now do i keep it as a 0-6-0 or do i need to add a axle & make it a 0-6-2

& how much of the boiler do you all think i have taken out ??

Found time to get some more work done to the hunslett 0-6-2

I have fitted the sand dome, steam dome & chinmey to the boiler plus the tank fillers

100_6904 by Mozzer models, on Flickr

I have also made footplate extension & a new mount for the buffer beam

13879499694_21e410e012_c.jpg

100_6905 by Mozzer models, on Flickr

& heres a photo with one of the coaches it will be used with

this has actually just reminded me of a site for a preserved WD Hunslet I was looking at a few months ago,

http://www.warofficehunslet.org.uk/introblurb.html

the site has a gallery of Hunslets in many countries after the war,

http://www.warofficehunslet.org.uk/photobrazil.html

This photo shows a Hunslet after a few rebuilds in brazil, which is what your model reminded me of,

http://www.warofficehunslet.org.uk/brazphots/WD1313UsinaLeaoUtinga-23-8-86.jpg

Iwas also the thinking that it might help with the undecided gap under cab
