newport_rod
Maybe it's better to let WSP get on with what they are best at and let others with different skills mess around with websites!
lonesome_whistle
Maybe it's better to let WSP get on with what they are best at and let others with different skills mess around with websites! Yeah, I'm inclined to that opinion too. I quite like that WSP do things the old-fashioned way and there are no shortage of retailers that do sell their books if one is inclined to use a credit card. I'm very much looking forward to volume 3a of John Hodge's North & West series - it's on my christmas list so, unfortunately, I will have to wait another month before I set eyes on it!! M Graff
And you don´t think that the sales would maybe almost double if their published works would be obtainable in some more or less organized way? I have tried many times to get hold of some of their titles but have stopped due to the fact that there is no "real" dealers for their publishing. And most of the times it is sold out at the very same day they get the copys,....I guess due to pre-ordering? And to know what the next Book is so I can preorder myself? That´s difficult as the info about their planned publishings are very scarce outside of the UK..... "The good old way"? Why not, "the way to keep foreigners away from our Books".... lonesome_whistle
I have tried many times to get hold of some of their titles but have stopped due to the fact that there is no "real" dealers for their publishing. I'm not sure many of us buy directly from publishers though, do we? I've got a fair collection of Wild Swan books and I've never needed to order directly. There are a fair few specialist retailers that will sell you Wild Swan Publications and some of them have websites and I'd guess that all would be happy to ship anywhere if you pay them. Bill Hudson, Titfield Thunderbolt and Nigel Bird are all recommended and there are many others who will serve you well.
M Graff
Any websites you would like to link me to? Most of the times I have searched for Wild Swan Books on Google, I don´t get many useable results (mostly reviews and such...), so a few good ones would be nice . EDIT. I found the ones above except for Nigel Bird....

Horsetan
.....LMS profiles the Jinties LMS profiles the Standard Compounds.... Picked up my copies of both from the Ian Allan shop in Waterloo yesterday. They look absolutely excellent, and the Compound one contains much fascinating information, particularly about the principles of compounding - a subject which I knew virtually nothing about previously. Was amused to learn that the preserved no.1000 is attached to a tender which was meant for the S&DJ 7F 2-8-0, and I seem to recall reading recently that "7F" no. 53808 is attached to a "hybrid" tender which was formerly coupled to a....Compound! 9430
If any of you have any influence with WSP. I just managed to lay my hands on a copy of LMS Locomotive Profiles No 1,The Rebuilt Scots. It is very thin compared to their later offerings in this series, I think that it must be well past time for a Pictorial Supplement as per the rest of the series. David Bigcheeseplant
I think that there is a plan to revise and update the Royal Scot book to include both as built and re-built versions. David
