Charlie
Hope this is the right place for this. I bought a replacement class 90 motor for an old 90's version of the model. However, while I was running it in it developed a very loud screeching noise as though something was slipping. Upon removal of the body I discovered the motor had become extremely hot and there was a slight smell of burning. Has anyone else encountered this or have any explanation as to what may be causing it?
RMweb Gold Dagworth Posted January 8, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 8, 2011 This is normally a symptom of the hole for the armature bearing in the brush plate having become enlarged, rather than turning in the hole the shaft rotates around the hole edges. Simple cure is a drop of vaseline on the end of the shaft. and worked into the bearing. Andi

dave flint
Are they still like this ? I remember returning many models of 86219 that was bought when new for my 10th birthday, until a "non screecher" was found. That was 1982 ! They were fine for a couple of sessions, and then slow right down, making that dreadful noise. I know exactly the sound you mean. You've brought it all flooding back !
