RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted February 11, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2011 'BTP' - as in 'Be There Presently'.. Also known (affectionately) to their colleagues in the 'County Forces' as 'The Railway Children' Regs Ian (who has worked both sides of the railway policing fence ) BTP have moved on. My first encounters by phone in the '60s might indeed be met with "Just a minute, I'll get a pencil" but by the time I left the industry they were far more practical - within the limitations of their numbers, of course. A table on KX concourse, offering to security mark people's valuables etc. seemed a good PR idea to me, but by then I was on first name terms with a number of officers anyway. An ACC used to travel on my train, and it was not uncommon to see him in conversation with the Rail Regulator!
