55016
Hi, Might seem a silly question, but can anyone recommend the best way to trim the drive pin, i.e. tools & method. Thanks Dave
kevpeo
Hi 55 016, I just use a cutting disc in a mini drill. Better if you have a few to do as you have to be careful not to get the pin too hot or you can melt the tie bar. Just cut a little, let it cool/move on to the next. Cut a little more, etc. Done this on Peco's, Seeps, Tortoises as well. hth, kev.
RMweb Gold RFS Posted February 19, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 19, 2011 I use one of these bolt cutters specifically for the purpose - £5.47 from DCC Supplies. Point Actuator Cutters If you're using a slitting disc in a mini-drill then take care not to cut a slit in the adjacent point blade. And above all wear safety goggles: these discs are fragile, very sharp and shatter easily!

55016
Thanks for all your replies. I tried using my Xuron track cutters but the drive pin too tough! The bolt cutters RFS mentions look like being the option. Thanks again guys.
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted February 20, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 20, 2011 Don't use Xuron track cutters on hard wire, not if you like them to stay intact Special hard wire cutters are available, Xuron make them as do others (as above)
