Rivet Press tool - is there a review of available types?

Are there any instructions for use with it? I had realised that the anvil had an eccentric fitting, but had not worked out what it was for, presumably to achieve a fixed pitch, the previous rivet is dropped off the anvil platform? I don't think mine has the backstop.
