Alas no place/space for one on Hare's run If it wasn't for my love of freight trains, your project would have consigned me to a more significant terminus like your own. I really like what you have captured on Hare's run, it reminds me a bit of Aberystwyth where I lived for a bit as a kid. I remember the class 25 with its petroleum train shunting backwards & forwards all day every wednesday, then from 1987 it was a pair of class 20's. I have changed the rear of the station building to adapt to the new build, made a wall between the station & the low relief buildings against the wall, and also done the dreaded ballasting. This is how the station is looking as of this evening...... overall view of the station showing the back wall, & ballasted track This view showing the rear of main station building altered to adapt the new plan. I will build a small glass canopy to cover the area where the stairs are to exit the platforms The next job is to add all the signage, flower beds, Screens, populate the platforms & then glue down the canopies onto the supports. Keep up the good work mate, It's paying off Regards Lee Thanks again Lee, the feedback keeps me inspired Well guys, This evening i've sorted out the part of the station that was bugging me, & thinking of a design, & that was the buffer stop end of the platforms at the back of the main station building. I wanted something to blend in with the canopies but which also looked like a modern addition to the station, like a concourse area. But the other day, i got on with populating the platforms. The next Job after this will be to fit the new 'Shawbury' nameboards, the signage & information screens & clocks, then the dummy signals. I'm still yet to get the phone boxes in the right colour. Here's some pictures took this morning in natural light.... I have now added all the signage, Platform numbers & the information screens. The only thing I need to do now is detail the phone boxes & add some posters & timetables when I finally get some coloured ink for my printer. Here are all the latest shots.... A HST is seen stabled in the carriage siding A view under the canopies showing the new additions... A shot through the class showing the stairs exiting the platforms A Class 150 Sprinter approaches Platform 4 with a Chester service A class 37 hauled coal train passes under the station on the freight only line A intercity liveried class 47 arrives at platform 3 with a Portsmouth Harbour to Liverpool Lime Street Via the Marches, while a Class 47 hauled Parcels service waits at Platform 1 bound for Bristol Cheers for now guys, mark Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

The information screens/TVs plus all the other details contribute to the overall feel of a busy terminus station, which I think you have captured very well. And this is supposed to be N gauge?? Thanks Stephen Glad it brings back the memories for you. Its a period I wanted to model because of the interesting traction that ran back then unlike now, & also my love of heritage DMU's. All you would see at Shrewsbury today mainly is 158's, 170's, 175's & 153's, with the occasional freight thrown in. Well guys, time for a small update with some slight alterations i've made yet again. I've shortened Platforms 2 & 3 into bay platforms, giving the impression of a large island Platform. All long trains such as 8 coaches long can now only use Platforms 1 & 4, & shorter trains up to 5 coaches can use Platforms 2 & 3. I've done this because if i had a long train on Platform 2 or 3, then bought such as a Sprinter into the far platform (no 4), you couldn't see it. This plan you can see any train, in any of the platforms . I'm also making a glazed covering for the new filled in part of the platform.....here's some pictures to show what i'm doing..... This view showing the now filled in area's of platforms 2 & 3 & the new glazing been added between the 2 main canopies An arial shot of the station area showing the shortened Platforms 2 & 3 Tha canopies this end of the station will remain the same. Thanks Graham , Those were my thoughts too once i'd done it, especailly the large area beyond the bay platforms. I have 4 Class 150/1's in total, all in 'revised' provincial livery, but as i remember in the late 80's, most Class 150/1's carried original light blue provincial livery, similar to the Pacers Class's 142-143's at the time. Only a hanfull were painted in 'revised livery to match the Class 150/2 car that was used to make up a handfull of 3 car sets. With the help of Electra Railway graphics, I now have 3 units in original light blue livery, & i am really pleased with how they look. Giving the trains a bit of a run earlier, i also took some pictures.... 1st up, its the start of the summer timetable, so a strengthened 4 car Class 150/1 in original provincial livery is approaching Shawbury with a Birmingham New Street to Pwllheli service, in the stabling sidings is my 3rd 150/1 in the same livery. This really has bought some colour to the layout This view across the platforms, the Class 101 will form a later stopping train to Wolverhampton while a coal sector Class 37 waits in the background with some empty coal hoppers for Bescot While the well loaded 4 car Sprinter departs for Pwllheli, a Class 47 waits at the signal for the road to Platform 4 with a Cardiff to Liverpool service A view of the Cardiff to Liverpool Class 47 hauled train arriving at the stop blocks A Class 31 'Soster Dora' is released from the stabling point to take over the Cardiff to Liverpool train Meanwhile an unrefurbished Chester based all blue Class 108 in multiple to a Class 101 approaches platform 1 with the summmer saturdays only Llandudno to Birmingham New Street service Sister Dora departs for Liverpool from platform 4.
