RMweb Premium Claude_Dreyfus Posted May 28, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 28, 2011 Some more exciting developments in the world of high speed trains were announced yesterday with the news that the Japanese Government have given the go-ahead for a new Maglev main line, linking Tokyo with Osaka via an inland route more or less following the existing Chuo main line. It is estimated that once complete, journey times for the 500km route between the two cities will be 67 minutes. A very small section of the line is already in existance, being used as a test track; however this is a very long-term project. Trains are not expected to run the entire length until 2045... That's a long wait! More details can be found here in the Railway Gazette
